THE ARTWORKS COOPERATIVE FEATURED ARTISTS in the month of February are Nick and Nicole Fischer, of Aberdeen. The couple will be showing new works that have been completed in recent months.
Nick will be presenting a colorful series of expressive portraits and faces using a variety of styles. Work in this series focuses on the face as an art form rather than the portrayal of an individual. Other works in the new series include portrait oriented pieces. The show will also feature other various artworks by Nick.
Nicole will display works from her ongoing “Vessels” series. The series, which began three years ago, consists of large-scale portraits. Interesting angles and focal points make up compositions of female subjects holding a vessel of some sort. The vessel, with it’s curvilinear lines, mimics lines of the physical female form. The vessel is also a symbol for females for their child-bearing qualities. Each portrait is intimate and conveys subtle emotional undertones.
A reception for the Fischer’s will be held on Thursday, February 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to this free event. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
