IF YOU HAD TO PICK A PLACE to eat any where in North or South Dakota where would you choose? If the new proprietors of a downtown landmark have any say in your descision they hope you pick the re-reinvented Ward Plaza Fine Dining and Pub. The Queen of the Dakotas has returned, as they say, with new owners, a new general manager and a new chef. We last told you about A-list chef Taylor Vroman in our feature of the Britton Bistro. Now he’s in Aberdeen serving up lunch and dinner with rave reviews from everyone (and the prices are perfect). Randy Grismer recently joined the venture and serves as general manager of the restaurant, pub, Crystal Ballroom (book your wedding now!), and hotel. After Alonzo’s relocated to the old Robbie’s Bar across the street, developers Tom and John Aman hired some of the area’s brightest and best young professionals to create an experience reminiscent of the Ward’s glory days. This is downtown revitalization at its best; landmark site, young creative people, great food, a perfect third space.
Bringing Art Downtown Follow fine dining with fine art! After dinner, take a walk through the Ward Plaza Art Gallery. The recently opened gallery features stunning works created by a variety of major regional artists which are available for purchase. The gallery is open M-F Noon-2 and 5:30-8 pm, Sat 1-5 pm, and by appointment. Call Steven Aman at 605-228-9560 for more information.
