DAYTIME OR NIGHTTIME IS THE RIGHT TIME to plan a date. Add some pizzazz to your love life besides the ordinary dinner and a movie. And sure, go ahead and tell ’em you read it here in A-List. Its amoré!
1. Enjoy the lunch special at the Canterbury Ltd. Then, stroll down Main admiring the old buildings. pick up a Downtown Walking Tour brochure to help you explore what “once was.” There’s more info on this at alistaberdeen.com.
2. Take a tour of Dacotah Prairie Museum and talk about what it would be like living in different time periods. Check out contemporary art.
3. There’s nothing better than strolling around a beautiful furniture store. Try out one of the massage chairs with your date and hey, some have free cappuccino.
4. Take a long drive and reconnect. Sometimes busy schedules don’t allow for the conversation that every relationship needs. Counting cows along the way proves for some old fashioned South Dakota entertainment.
5. Visit an open house. It’s fun to legally snoop around houses for sale and admire the design. This could be followed up with a treat from DQ or Twist Cone.
6. Noah’s Critters or the Humane Society have furry friends that would love some attention! Take them out, give them a hug, and maybe even take one home. It’s the date that never ends!
7. Darts and bosco sticks at Lager’s Inn is a great combo. What are bosco sticks you say? If you had to ask, you definitely need to go try them. Yum!
8. Invite another couple along and have a progressive dinner around town. Enjoy an appetizer and a glass of wine at Minervas; head to Maverick’s for a steak; then top off the evening with some dessert at one of the elegant downtown spots, like Alonzo’s or the Ward Plaza.
9. Get geared up and go for a scenic bike ride or rollerblade-escapade at Wylie Park. They say that couples who sweat together, stay together.
10. Stroll through a graveyard and tell ghost stories. Better yet, do some grave rubbings. They are boo-tiful mementos.
11. Take a walk around Parkview Nursery and “smell the roses.” Appreciate the lush greenery and maybe pick up a tree to plant; or any other plant for that matter.
12. Volunteer. The United Way or Salvation Army is always looking for an extra set of hands or two. It’s amazing what helping others does for yourself. Check’em out.
13. Dance lessons tickle you or yours’ fancy? Aberdeen Parks and Rec. has opportunities to learn how to swing, waltz, or get down with some hip hop. After mastering your technique, the Zoo Bar has a dance floor full of fellow up and coming dance stars.
14. If you like brew and need something new, go for a tour at Shenanigan’s. You will be able to travel to England and Ireland for a deliciously small charge. Wednesday is wing night: beautifully romantic!
15. Go to the Red Rooster and check out some fresh, creative music over a latte. Start a new trend of appreciating musical talent. Talent is not synonymous with “cover band” at the Rooster.
