Vanity for Rent

THERE IS ALWAYS A CURE FOR AN AILMENT:  Sudafed for a runny nose, Pizza Hut for a late night hunger pain, and a credit card for a much-wanted-but-not-needed-splurge.  The most recent of my discoveries was a cure for one of the biggest ailments known to the middle-class female: Possessing a designer handbag.

There is a desire that continues to grow for the “A-List of handbags”.  Names like “Dooney and Bourke”, “Louis Vuitton”, “Coach”, and “Kate Spade” are becoming household icons.  Their individual signature bags are recognizable regardless of age or language.  Even the family pooch can sport a signature look from head to toe, which at retail would cost a head and all toes.

So how is it that the average woman without a disposable income can carry the same exact authentic bags as those ladies who do have the cash to toss around?  All things are made possible through internet sites that are geared like a rent-to-own and allow their patrons to borrow authentic handbags at the fraction of the cost for purchasing one.

Web sites like frombagstoriches.com and bagborroworsteal.com enlist eager customers and offer a wide selection of designer bags for the choosing at a variety of price ranges.  A handbag or bags can be rented however long the bag is needed and returned to keep her personal look fresh and trendy.

The cost to rent the purse is on a bag to bag basis ranging anywhere from $44.95 to $189.95+ per week depending on the make and model.  This is said to be the affordable alternative to buying designer handbags.  Whatever happened to “living within your means”?  I guess that’s a thing of the past.  Tell us what you think.  Is this ridiculous or smart and savvy?  You read it here at A-List.com.
